She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Garland and Grace Bailey Polson Worley; her husband John Coy Shumate; her children, Michael Lee Hemric and Kathy Darlene Shumate; her grandchildren, Brian Hemric, Angela Hemric and Johnny Rollins; and her siblings, Garfield Worley, Geraldine Smoot and Gewenith Nichols.
She is survived by: her children, Janet Rollins (John) of King William, Virginia of North Wilkesboro, Kimberly Ann Whitley (Brian) of North Wilkesboro, Geneva Marlene Shumate of North Wilkesboro and James Carl Hemric (Phyllis) of North Wilkesboro; and her sisters, Gladys Cooper of North Wilkesboro and Beatrice Byers of North Wilkesboro. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
