He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Welborn and Elizabeth Grayson Welborn; and his brother Henry G. Welborn. He is survived by: his wife Betsy Kearns Welborn; his son James Michael Welborn (Blanche Glenn Welborn) of Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Zachary Christopher Welborn and Emily Welborn (Zachary Thomas Brewer); and his great grandchildren, Savannah Elizabeth Brewer and Olivia Grace Brewer.
