He was predeceased by: his grandson Miles Allen Smith; his father Russell Shaw; his aunt Mozelle; and his father-in-law J. C. Faw. He is survived by: his wife Diane of Wilkesboro; his children, Whitney Wagoner (Evan), Chris Shaw (Lawren), Rebecca Smith (Byron), Ben Wagoner, Henry Wagoner, Oliver Shaw and Levi Smith; his mother Joan Long of Cary; his siblings, Van Shaw of Myrtle Beach, S. C. and Myra Peterson (John) of Raleigh; his nephew John Peterson of New York, N. Y.; his brother David Shaw (Mary) of Huntersville; his nephews, David Shaw (Kelsey) and Michael Shaw; his brother-in-law Jim Faw (Sandy) of Wilkesboro; and his nephew Matthew Faw (Judy Faw) of Austin, TX. He is also survived by cousins, aunts, uncles, and other extended family.
