She was predeceased by: her parents, Spencer Monroe and Maude Burnette Adams; her husband Millard Lee Shew; her daughter Cynthia Diane Shew Eaton; and her brother Bill Adams.
She is survived by: her daughter Becky Shew Reeves (Danny) of Wilkesboro; her grandchildren, Matthew Reeves, Crystal Keener (Bucky) and Jody Barbour (Anita); and her great grandchildren, Olive, Gus, Charlie, Emily and Annie.
