He was predeceased by: his parents, James Odell Vickers and Mary Alvenia Carlton Vickers; his wife Mattie "Pat" Vickers; his siblings, Linda Sue Davis, Muriel Lee Johnson, Emma Cleary, Moselle Purdue, Otis Vickers, Don Vickers, Bill Vickers, Jay Vickers, James Vickers, Hoy "Glen" Vickers and Archie Vickers; and his grandson Andrew "Andy" Goforth.
He is survived by: his children, Deanna Blevins (Brian) of North Wilkesboro, David Vickers Jr. (Jessica) of Wilkesboro and Timmy "Tim" Vickers (Kristyna) of Wilkesboro; and his sister Doris Perkins Jerry (Leonard). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
