He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Lamar and Evelyn Combs Thomas; and his brother Herbert LaMar Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo Matney Thomas; his children, Christine Michelle Thomas Burns (Victor Scott Burns) of Bermuda and Michael David Thomas (L. Aylett Colston) of Raleigh; and his grandchildren, Jackson Christopher Burns, Alison Jessica Burns, Alexander Colston Thomas and Isaac McNulty Thomas.
