He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Fredrick and Ruby Lee Eller Greer; and his wife Clara Ruth Reeves Greer. He is survived by: his children, Clara Jo Greer of Wilkesboro, Diane Childress (Johnny) of Millers Creek and Charles Alan Greer (Lea Ann) of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Stuart Earp (Lori) of Hamptonville, Julia Greer of Greensboro and Samuel Greer of Greensboro; and his great grandchildren, Kaylee Earp of Hays and Taylor Earp Booher (Trever) of North Wilkesboro.
