He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Childress and Annie Ball Childress; and his siblings, Janie Greenwood, Larry and John Childress.
He is survived by: his spouse Rick Blackburn; his sons, Scott Childress (Ann) of Goodyear, AZ and Jamie Childress of Wilkesboro; his siblings, Pat Royal, Barbara Sebastian, Merlene Anderson, Wayne of Wilkes, Kim of Wilkes and Dennis Childress of Wilkes; and his grandchildren, Travis, Ashley, Zack and Hailey Childress.
