He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin James O'Dell and Hazel Irene Carter; his son Ronald O'Dell; and his siblings, Delores O'Dell, Raymond O'Dell and Roland Carter.

He is survived by: his wife Linda O'Dell; his children, Katherine Cipriano (Steven), Dana Thomas (Benjamin) and William O'Dell (Carmen); his grandchildren, Brianne Cipriano, Sean Cipriano, William O'Dell Jr., Drew Cipriano, Ian O'Dell, Leighton O'Dell and Many; and his siblings, Louise Sansbury and Erwin O'Dell (Susan).
