She was predeceased by: her parents, Cornelious Ashe and Ethel King Ashe; her former husband Vernell Kilby; her husband Ray Bumgarner; her son Steve Kilby; and her siblings, Harl Ashe, Gerlene Ashe, Pauline Kalin, Opal Bumgarner and Barbara Miller.

She is survived by: her siblings, Homer Ashe (Mary), Cory Ashe, Jr. (Peggy), Evelina Davis and Elaine Jones.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Appalachian Funeral Services (165 Skyland Dr, Sylva, NC 28779). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
