He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Ely and Helen Rich Ely; and his siblings, Bobby, Jimmy, Buddy, David, Susan and Jeff.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Ely; his sons, Johnny Ely, Jr. (Carla) and Chris Ely (Sandee); his grandchildren, Rubianne, Nate, Zach, Marielle, Jenna, Jake, Ben and Kara; his great grandchildren, Lorelei, Mavis, Violet and Wren; and his sister Carolyn Gant. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
