He was predeceased by: his parents, William James Duncan and Stella Watts Duncan; his daughters, Ann Myrick and Beth Soles; and his siblings, William "Dick" Duncan, Alma Braskey, Polly Priest, Lucille Blackburn, Geneva Stewart and Betty Phillips.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Ann Soles Duncan; his children, Sammy W. Duncan, Jr. (Kellie) of Whiteville, Michael Duncan of Belmont, Steven Duncan (Carole) of Whiteville, Clark Duncan (Nickie) of Gastonia and Amy Cribb (Timmy) of Whiteville; and his sister Phyllis D. Sawyer of Loris, SC. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
