He was predeceased by: his parents, Hilton Wade Hooks and Ila Jane Evers Hooks; and his siblings, Eleanor H. Heustess, Virginia H. Simmons, Louise Todd, Stanley Hooks, Burvin Hooks, Buddy Hooks and D. J. Hooks.
He is survived by: his wife Shelvy Jean Cribb Hooks; his children, Gary Ray Hooks (Tina) of Whiteville, Kimberly Faye Hooks Creech (Richard) of Whiteville and Regina Sue Hooks of Whiteville; his brother Tommy Hooks (Linda) of Chadbourn; and his grandchildren, Amber H. Reaves (Clay), Jonathon H. Hooks, Aaron Ray Creech and Mason Emanuel Hooks.
