He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Cartrette and Martha Richardson Cartrette; his wife Betty Jones Cartrette; and his grandsons, Joshua Cartrette and Joey Cartrette.
He is survived by: his children, Herman Allen "Joey" Cartrette, Jr. (Teresa) of Whiteville, Joseph Cartrette of Shallotte, Anne Cartrette of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tammy Todd (Wayne) of Whiteville; his grandchildren, Brittany Cartrette Fowler (Matt), John Crutchman, Curtis Crutchman, Stephanie Crutchman, Christy Collins, Laura Cartrette, Clifford Miller and Michael Todd; and his sister Lucille Sellers. He is also survived by many great grandchildren.
