He was predeceased by: his parents, Norwood Wells Sumner and Anna Mary Sutton Sumner; and his grandson Norwood Wade Sumner. He is survived by: his sons, James Norwood Sumner, Jr. (Terra) of Tabor City, NC, Jeffery Sumner (Candace) of Clarendon, NC and Samuel Sumner (Allegra) of Wilmington, NC; his siblings, Edward Sumner of Harrells, NC and Teresa Herring of Clinton, NC; and his grandchildren, Callie, Brady, Alex, Andrew and Alieyah.
