She was predeceased by: her parents, John Arthur Batten Sr. and Nancy Peacock Batten; her husband Gethro Burney; her brother John Arthur Batten Jr.; her daughter Grace Camille Burney; and her grandson John Burr.
She is survived by: her sons, Ronald Earl Burney (Loretta) of Elgin, SC and Matthew Burney Sr. of Whiteville; her sister Beatrice Burney of Whiteville; and her grandchildren, Matthew Burney Jr., Marshall Griffin, Mallory Griffin (Kathy), Nancy Griffin, Jeremy Griffin and Tiffany Clutter (Aaron). She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
