He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Tyson and Frances Smith Tyson; his son James "Jim" Tyson; his granddaughters, Cynthia "Flossie" Tyson and Ashley Madison; and his siblings, Kelton Tyson, Marvin Tyson, Rosalee Lee, Estelle Tyson, Lucy Penny and Leta Lee.
He is survived by: his wife Lila "Sue" Babson Tyson; his sons, Ronald "Rusty" Tyson of Whiteville, Dennis Tyson of Whiteville and Jon Tyson (Rebecca) of Whiteville; and his sisters, Careleen Suggs of Whiteville and Margie Sellers of Whiteville. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
