With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Annie Ruth Buffkin of Whiteville, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 2, 2024 at the age of 80. As Annie Ruth departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Annie Ruth. Though Annie Ruth may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Mercer and Ruby Sellers Mercer; her husband Charles Buffkin; and her sister Hazel Irene Hendrickson. She is survived by: her daughter Debra Simmons (Grady "Shorty" Simmons); her grandson Casey Bowen (Jamie Bowen); and her great grandchildren, Abigail, Aria and Lily Bowen.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Buffkin's Home. A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Peacock Funeral Home's Chapel (1227 S Madison St, Whiteville, NC 28472).
