He is survived by: his children, Boyce "Duffie" Sams (Teresa) of Forest City and Amelia DeVue Sams of Forest City; his siblings, Marshall Sams (Betty) of Fredericksburg, VA, Roger Sams (Laura) of Bostic, Raymond Sams (Laura) of Shelby, Geraldine Carpenter (Robert) of Ellenboro and Patsy Mode (Doc) of Ellenboro; and his grandchildren, Andy Lovelace, Sam Lovelace, Leslie Greene and Kellie Smith. He is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
