He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Vincent Carpenter and Rachel Elizabeth Thomas Carpenter; his wife Taffy Harry Carpenter; and his siblings, Vincent Carpenter, Bill Carpenter and Linda Triplett.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Carpenter of Shelby, Deaver Carpenter of Shelby, Chris Carpenter (Shelby) of Kernersville and Kim Bivins (Ray) of Lawndale; his sister Frankie Carpenter of Shelby; and his grandchildren, Ashley Earl, Aaron Carpenter, Alexa Shull (Will), Alesha Maltba (Ethan), Chandler Carpenter and Savannah Carpenter. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
