He was predeceased by: his parents, John Fletcher Tatum, Sr. and Gussie Lee Colvin Tatum; his brothers, John Fletcher Tatum, Jr. and Edsel Tatum; the mother of his children Onlee Smith Tatum; his son-in-law Eric Cortes; his brother-in-law Ronnie Norris; and his nephew John Wayne Tatum.
He is survived by: his children, Allan Tatum (Kelly Lanier) of Elizabethtown and Mary Cortes of Richlands; his grandchild Ethen Cortes; his siblings, Robert Colvin (Bobby), Elizabeth Tatum Norris (Liz) of Elizabethtown and Faye Tatum Freeman (Elvin) of Fairmont; his stepdaughters, Lisa Turner, Denise Cashwell and Donna Shores; and his close friends, Jerry Edge, Lee Owens, Kelvin Flannery (Nicole) and Howard Owens. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services (3131 M. L. K. Dr, Elizabethtown, NC 28337). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the West Family Cemetery.
