He was predeceased by: his parents, John Samuel and Garva Ella Harrill Blanton; his wife Evelyn Gold Blanton; and his siblings, Jesse Blanton, John Blanton Jr., Ken Blanton, Annette Cline and Bea Ramey.
He is survived by: his children, Harrill Blanton Jr. (Tena) of Boiling Springs, John Gold Blanton (Brenda) of Charlotte, Michael Blanton (Leanne) and Martha Caudill (Stuart) of Gastonia; his grandchildren, Dr. Josh Blanton (Emily Blanton), Caleb Blanton Jonathan Caudill (Brittney) and Sara Howard (Josh); his great grandchildren, James Harrill Blanton, Ella Blanton, Emma Blanton and Caroline Blanton; his sister Sarah Dedmon of Shelby; his sister-in-law Veva C. Gold of Shelby; and his brother Bob Blanton of Lattimore. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
