He was predeceased by: his father Howard Freeman; and his mother-in-law Frances Holmes. He is survived by: his wife Trudy Holmes Freeman; his mother Gray Freeman of Rocky Mount; his daughter Stephanie Mikeal (Derek) of Spartanburg, S. C.; his sister Terry Ann Freeman of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Emery Bowling (Taylor Sexton) and Evan Bowling of Spartanburg, S. C.; his stepchildren, Charity Ruiter of Red Oak and Jesse Ruiter of Rocky Mount; his stepgrandchildren, Bella Davis of Red Oak and Marlee Ruiter of Cortland, Ohio; his aunts, Pearl Whitehurst of Rocky Mount, Joyce Smith of Rocky Mount and Gussie Gibson of Florida; his father-in-law Reverend Floyd Holmes; and his siblings-in-law, Grace Bishop of Manteo, Martha Schneider of Columbia, S. C., Joy Holmes (Matt Holman) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Reverend John Holmes (Merri) of Winston Salem. He is also survived by friends and other extended relatives.
