He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Lewis and Pattie Dunn Lewis; and his siblings, Betty Bennett, Gladys Ellis, Marie Powell, Irene Eastwood, Edith Keel, Margaret Hale, Edna Finch and John Thomas Lewis.

He is survived by: his wife Ella Lewis; his children, Patsy Alligood (Doug) of Belhaven, Vickie Carter (Blake) of Salem and George Lewis of Salem; his granddaughters, Sarah Carter, Kristin Robinson and Virginia Robinson (Gina); and his great grandchildren, Easton Sparrow and Jacob Sparrow. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
