He was predeceased by: his parents, James Gary and Pattie Hart Simmons; his brother Jeff Simmons; and his sister-in-law Libby Weatherman. He is survived by: his wife Shellia Simmons; his daughter Shea Simmons Smith (Bobby); his grandchildren, CJ Smith and Cole Smith; his siblings, Rebecca Simmons Taylor and Chris Simmons (Tammy); his nieces and nephews, Ethan Simmons, Jesse Simmons, Meghan Roberson, Shelley Preston, Sara Moore and Shannon Stanley; and his sisters-in-law, Fonda Pendry (Danny Joe) and Sarah Simmons. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Brown Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
