He was predeceased by: his parents, David Smith and Mabel Severt Smith; his wife Dora Sue Smith; his daughter Priscilla Wood; and his siblings, Elsie Stone, Pinkie Lewis, Sylvia Roark, Bly Walton and Ray Smith.
He is survived by: his son Daniel Smith (Joyce) of Canton; his siblings, Roy Smith and Sadie Lyalls of West Jefferson; his grandchildren, Crystal Johnson (Will) of Wilkesboro, Whitney Wood of Kingsport and Roxanne Priest (Brandon); and his great grandchildren, Bentley, Emsley Johnson, Sadie Carter, Bailey and Bryson Cole.
The family would like to give special recognition to some very dear people for their concern and compassion in caring for Ralph and his family; Patty Woodie, Becky Stidims, Kim Campbell, the physicians, nurses and staff of Margate Health and Rehab Center Covid Unit and Badger Funeral Home.
