She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Howell and Carrie Grubb Howell; and her siblings, Edison Howell, Everett Howell, Earnest Howell, Wilma Wood, Maggie Hamm and Louise Witherspoon.
She is survived by: her husband Floyd South; her daughters, Teresa Barnes (Ronnie) of Taylorsville, Robin Privette (Eric) of Jefferson, Elaine Johnson (Brandon) of Wilkes and Jennifer South; her sisters, Myrtle Adams of Taylorsville and Leona Jarvis of West Jefferson; her grandchildren, Chris Barnes (Deann) of Conover, Andy Calhoun (Ashley) of West Jefferson, Quinn Privette (Rose) of West Jefferson and Leah Ingersoll (Jared) of West Jefferson; and her great grandchildren, Owen Calhoun, Mariella Calhoun, Emmaline Ingersoll and Lucy Ingersoll. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
