He was predeceased by: his parents, Hillary Lewis and Mabel Perkins Lewis; his wife Bernice Absher Lewis; and his brothers, Bill Lewis and Harry Dean "Pete" Lewis.
He is survived by: his children, James Lewis of West Jefferson, Debbie Lewis Eldreth (Johnny) of Jefferson, Jackie Lewis Barker (Terry) of Union Grove, Norma Lewis Philen (David) of Union Grove and Marie Lewis of Statesville; and his sisters, Ruth Ann Eldreth of Fleetwood and Edith Roten of West Jefferson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
