She was predeceased by: her parents, Adolphus Bobbitt and Nellie Castevens Bobbitt; her former husband Howard Sumerford; her husband Joseph Adams; her siblings, Walter, David, Talmadge Bobbitt and Margaret Tarlton; and her stepson Joby Adams.
She is survived by: her children, Steve Sumerford of Greensboro, Don Sumerford of High Point, NC, Mark Sumerford of Greensboro, NC, Douglas Sumerford of Greensboro, NC and Fran Sumerford Harris of Monrovia, MD; her stepson Spencer Adams of Seven Lakes; and her sisters, Katherine Collins of Albemarle, NC and Carol Wright of Aberdeen, NC. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
