He was predeceased by: his parents, David Samuel York, Sr. and Maxine Viola Woodell York; and his siblings, Jessie York, Grady York and Addie Young.
He is survived by: his wife Frances "Frankie" York; his son Tony Lee York of Lexington; his stepchildren, Vonnie Thomas (Ron) of Carthage and Joey Barber (DeAnna) of Carthage; his siblings, Barbara Clodfelter of Randleman, Edna Causey of Randleman, Donnie York (Minerva) of Asheboro and Eugene York of Asheboro; and his grandchildren, Natasha York Sullivan, Cody York, Logan York and Kaylee York. He is also survived by three great grandchildren; six step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
