He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Shuman and Bessie Viola Basemore Shuman; his former wife Dot Smith Shuman; his granddaughter Laura Starling; and his siblings, Lester Shuman, Geneva Collins and Annie Mae Hollingsworth.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Lewis Shuman; his daughter Jean Starling (Wayne) of Wendell; his stepchildren, Ginger Preddy of Franklinton and Tim Davis (Judy); his grandchildren, Josh Starling (Camber), Casey Holmes (Blaine), Johnnie Scott (Brooke) and Tim Davis, Jr. (Kerry); and his great grandchildren, Grayson, Braxton, Trent, Austin, Lillie, Davis, Colton, Collin, Keira and Kyla.
