He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Marcus Nowell and Zelma Hocutt Batten Nowell; his wife Emily Kay Eatman Nowell; and his siblings, Nathan Batten, Marcus Nowell, Jr., Kathleen Carlyle, Wilma Lanier, Rosealeen Wall and Yvonne Hocutt.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kennette Nowell Stewart (Scott) of Wendell, Kelly Nowell Currie (Wayne) of Wendell and Kathryn Nowell Batten (Neal) of Wendell; his grandchildren, Zack Scott (Allyn Holcomb), Marc Scott (Bethany), Jeff Currie, Jeremy Currie, Rev. Jason Currie (Allison) and Kara Stewart; his great grandchildren, Emma Scott, Maelynn Scott, Samuel Currie and Isaiah Currie; and his close friend Dot Powell of Newport News, VA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
