He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Oxendine and Nancy Bell Jones; his wife Hilda Brayboy Jones; his grandsons, Brandon Veazey and Cody Minor; his siblings, Flonnie B. Smith and Linda J. Emanuel; his son-in-law Gene Lambert; and his pet Spike.
He is survived by: his children, Audrey McSwain (Al), Jennifer Lambert, Selena Veazey (Ronny), Mary Amaret Jones, Carolyn Jones and Charles David Jones (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Philip Parker (Megan), Chad Jones (Jamie), Grant Jones (Libby), Josh McSwain (Jenn), Amaret Velazquez-Newsome (Miguel), Justin Ellis (Ashley), Chase Jones and Connor Jones; his pet Sadie; and his siblings, Kermit Chavis, Jr. (Carolyn), Flora Dismukes, James Wilson Chavis, Rural Chavis (Mavis), Hulen Chavis (Barbara) and Bobby Chavis (Darlene).
In lieu of flowers, Charles requested donation be made to the Hilda Jones Choir Room fund (payment made to CCBC and note the above) or to VFW Post 148, Wendell, NC.On behalf of the family, we would like to thank Dennis Bullock for the exceptional care given to our father.
