It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Benjamin Cary Penrose (Wendell, North Carolina), who passed away on September 30, 2019, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Wayne and Nora Lee Fontaine Penrose; and his brother Lee Penrose. He is survived by: his wife Vickie Bates Penrose; his children, Christian Wathen (Tom) of Mathews, VA, Jennifer Proctor of Mathews, Cary Penrose (Amanda) of Raleigh, NC and Pamela Penrose of Nashville, TN; and his siblings, Linda Penrose of Memphis, TN and Bill Penrose of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren.

“If a person is lucky they will have one or two people in their life that rise to the level to be called a best friend. I was fortunate enough to have Ben Penrose as one of those rare individuals. We knew each other for almost forty-five years and during that time we shared a few very dark times and some of life's brightest moments. I was a groomsman at his and Vickie's wedding and he was the best man at mine. The world is a little less bright with Ben no longer in it. I will miss him.”
