It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernetta L. Whitelow (Weldon, North Carolina), born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, who passed away on December 27, 2018, at the age of 59, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parent Ellen Louise Johnson; her sister Velvet Meltrice Shifflett; her children, Dorothy Virginia Roberts and Lamoi Scott Roberts; her grandmother Rosa Lee Shifflett; and her uncle James Shifflett.
She is survived by: her children, Michelle Moats, Kimyatta Roberts of Edgewood, MD, David Moats of Harrisonburg, Ajary Roberts of Harrisonburg and Malcolm Roberts of Harrisonburg; her siblings, Chris Shifflett of Harrisonburg, Van Shifflett of Harrisonburg, Mark Shifflett, Terry Shifflett of Harrisonburg and Heidi Shifflett; her grandchildren, Jae-Ashlynn, Ajari, Jiolani, Jayden, Jamar, Phatima, Anacelia, Kristina and Valente; and her great grandchild Aliana. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in memory of her twin children, to the March of Dimes, Attn: DRFR, 1275 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605.
