She was predeceased by: her parents, Arlie Luther Essick Sr. and Girla Lily Kinney Essick; her spouse Glen Roscoe Shoaf; her son Glen David Shoaf; and her siblings, Agnes Adkins, Arwilda Everhart, Mintie Everhart, Arlie (A. L.), Winfred, Rueben and Ralph.

She is survived by: her daughter Myra Spach (Mick); her daughter-in-law Barbara Shoaf; her grandchildren, Patrick Spach and Leslie Shoaf; and her great grandchildren, Cooper Spach, Nora Schmid and Lisette Spach. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bethesda United Methodist Music Fund, 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, NC 27295 or Meals On Wheels of Davidson County, 555-B West Center Street Ext, Lexington, NC 27295.
