It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Waleed Hassan Akbar (Weaverville, North Carolina), born in Asheville, North Carolina, who passed away on December 21, 2024, at the age of 45, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his children, Jadrien Akbar and Janessa Akbar; his parents, Nafeesah Howard of Asheville and Mubarak Akbar (Sonya) of Morganton; his siblings, Rashada Crowder (Ben) of Weaverville, Abdur Akbar (Niroshi) of Rolesville, Naeem Akbar (Kim) of Asheville and Bilal Akbar (Kate) of Asheville; his stepsisters, Ambrea Williams (Malik) of Morganton, Resay Fetherbay of Morganton, Laquanna Landrum of Hendersonville, Tamika Landrum of Hendersonville and Shanekqua Landrum of Hendersonville; and his close friend Dran Hines. He is also survived by many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Weaverville Community Center (60 Lakeshore Dr, Weaverville, NC 28787).
