She was predeceased by: her parents, Lucille Medler and Roy Ellis; her former husband Carl Benison; her husband Lindsey Cruey; her brother Ernest Ellis; and also Roy Ellis, Jr..

She is survived by: her sister Louise Holden (Allen); her stepdaughters, Faye Shaffer (John), Patsy Jessee (Ray), Nancy Wolfe (Roy) and Lynne Jorgensen; and her nieces and nephews, Teresa Putnam (Ralph), Janet Keever (Jeff), Cynthia Ellis McAbee, Nancy Ellis Capps, Margaret Ellis, David Ellis, Joseph Ellis and Wade Zachary (Brenda). She is also survived by 9 step grandchildren and 18 step great-grandchildren.

They regularly delivered meals on wheels, donated gallons of blood through the Red Cross and traveled as much as possible.
