It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence Eugene Smith of Weaverville, North Carolina, who passed away on May 2, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Smith and Marjorie Smith; and his sisters, Anna Ramsey and Martha Hensley. He is survived by: his wife Betty Shell Smith; his daughters, Debra Ayers (Gerald) and Pamela Smith; his sister Deana Penix (Marshall Lee); his brother-in-law Lane Ramsey; his grandson Shane Ayers; and his pets, Coco, Kobia and Kiyanah.
