He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Harold Hope, Sr. and Marybelle Stocks Hope; his wife Jean Elizabeth Hope; his son James Edward Ragsdale Hope; and his brothers, Richard Hope and Robert Hope.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Carol Hope of Weaverville, NC, Joe Harold Hope III (Susan Jo Hope) of Mebane, NC and Steven Leigh Hope (Jill Leslie Woodworth) of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
