He was predeceased by: his father Clair Eugene Brown; his children, Leslie D. Brown and Barbara Brown; his siblings, Douglas Brown and Dolores Anders; and his daughter Norma.
He is survived by: his children, Duane Brown (Dorothy) of Alabama, Hugh Brown of Florida and Jennifer Green of Florida; and his close friend Linda Illes. He is also survived by four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
He donated his time to assist the Yancey County Humane Society, and also adopted many cats and dogs.
