With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sonja Smiley (Waynesville, North Carolina), born in Robbinsville, North Carolina, who passed away on January 21, 2021 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Wayne B. West and Jane Postell West of Robbinsville, NC.; and her sister Viola Gentry of Sylva, NC.. She is survived by: her husband Robert V. Smiley; her sons, Robert D. Smiley of Wilmington, NC and J. Chad Smiley (Jolie) of Gaffney; her friends, Melissa Sarratt, Martha Barnes, Emmaree Peeler, Becky Godfrey, Susan Smith and Mamie Sarratt; her sisters, Geraldine Mauck (William) of Waynesville, NC and Grace Bryson (Troy) of Waynesville, NC; and her grandchildren, Lexi Smiley of Gaffney and Seth Smiley (Macie) of Gaffney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, "Kitchen Fund", 501 Buck Shoals Road, Gaffney, SC 29341 in memory of Sonja Smiley.
