It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Arvey McHan Douthit (Waynesville, North Carolina), who passed away on March 31, 2018, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Arvey and Lillie Arvey; her husbands, Don McHan and Paul Douthit; and her siblings, Earl Arvey, Pearl Lakey, Ella Mae Cook and Coralee Postell.
She is survived by: her children, Marvin McHan (Beth) and Therese Rooks; her grandchildren, Michelle Hoover (Dan) of Franklin, Jake McHan of Waynesville and Nathan McHan of Korea; her siblings, Wayne Arvey, Joe Arvey, Floye DeHart, Dora Carlton and Clara Neil Arvey; and her friend Louise Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elizabeth House where she received excellent care with kindness.
