He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Birchfield Chafin; his children, Misty Chafin Garland, Robert Chafin III (Terri) and Patrick Owen Chafin; his sister Elaine Madison (Jim); his grandchildren, Ashli Garland Edwards, Bradley Owen Chafin and Makenna Chafin; his great grandchild Noah Michael Dean Edwards; and his father Papa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
