He was predeceased by: his parent Samuel Whip; and his sisters, Margaret Daniel of Richmond and Cenie Rogers. He is survived by: his parent Fannie Jane McCrackin Ferguson; his father-in-law Fletcher Brown; his wife June Ferguson; his children, Nancy Davis (Joe) and David Ferguson; his daughter-in-law Beth Reeves Ferguson; his grandchildren, Cara Rogers (Rodney) of Iron Duff and Andy Ferguson (Jessica) of Marion; his great grandchildren, McGuire Rogers, McClain Rogers and Walker Rogers; and his friend Joann Green.
