He was predeceased by: his parents, D. D. York and Ethel Kuykendall York; his wife Earlene Brown York; and his siblings, Lenoir York, Edith Teague, Dorothy Calhoun and Delores Shamsedin.
He is survived by: his children, Erika Ray (Wayne) of Winston Salem, Barry York of Waynesville and Brandon York (Shelli) of High Point; and his sister Norma Stock. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
