It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Katie Irene Nelson (Waynesville, North Carolina), who passed away on January 8, 2021, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Mitchell and Georgia Davis Mitchell; and her siblings, Norma Jean "Sally" Inman and George Mitchell. She is survived by: her husband Johnny Nelson, Sr.; her children, Roger Wood (Kathy), Johnny and Jill Mann (Steve); her siblings, Roger "Buggsy" Mitchell (Eleen), Mary Henson (Albert) and Beverly Buckner (Danny); and her sister-in-law Pauline Mitchell. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
