With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John V. Hawkins (Waynesville, North Carolina), who passed away on February 13, 2024 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Hawkins and Ruth Hawkins; his sister Jane Hawkins Lemon; his stepson Victor Hawkins; his daughter Marilyn Hawkins Gearhart; and his stepson Audry Hawkins.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Cathey Hawkins; his stepchild Lee Cathey-Bell; his children, Josephy Cathey III, Deborah Hawkins Lungren (Fred) of Tucson, AZ. and Jane Hawkins Elliott (John) of Tucson, AZ.; and his stepdaughter-in-law Gretta Hawkins of Casper, WY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and a great grandson.
