He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Parker Barbour and Viola Black Barbour; his stepmother Julia "Jackie" Poole Smith Barbour; his brothers, Joseph Parker Barbour, Jr. and Robert L. Barbour; and his stepbrother James Edward Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
