He was predeceased by: his wife Reta; his siblings, Joseph Amos McSwain, Jr., Leonard McSwain, Horace McSwain, Ray McSwain, Colon McSwain, Viola Plante, Dora Watkins, Annie Laura Lyles and Clara Lee Speake; and his parents, Joseph Amos and Leaka Watola McSwain.

He is survived by: his sons, Jack McSwain, Jr. (Deborah) and Michael McSwain; his granddaughters, Donna Barrow (William) and Suzanne Tomlinson (Chris) of Orange Park, Florida; and his great grandchildren, Rhiannon Barrow and Brooke Tomlinson.
